Title: HR intern

Tenure: Flexible, part time

Reporting to: Michelle Raymond, Founder and Director

The context: The People’s Partner is a HR and Coaching consultancy providing support for small and medium businesses that require HR provision and coaching to develop their staff.

Job summary: The HR Intern will provide a quality HR compliance and administrative support the clients of The People’s Partner. You will also be responsible for delivering assistance and administrative support to the HR consultants on various projects.


  • Assist in the development of human resource procedures and policies
  • Administer the performance of management system
  • Provide data for and prepare information reports and documents
  • Maintain and develop the online filing system of personnel and clients
  • Administer staff benefits, programs, and events
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the HR field
  • Undertake research and keep abreast of client changes

HR administration

  • Track progress, deadlines, and priorities of all projects
  • Prepare Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents
  • Proofread HR documents including audits, marketing information, and handbooks
  • Properly handle client requests through responsiveness, follow-up, and escalation


  • Work proactively with other team members
  • Prioritize activities for the best interest of the team when working on joint projects
  • Handle client requests and deliver quality solutions if able, or escalate the request to a more senior team member
  • Openly share new ideas and information with other team members

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • An interest in and broad understanding of the HR process
  • The ability to manage and prioritise a competing workload effectively
  • Personable, able to comfortably and pleasantly deal with a variety of people
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Relevant computer software and hardware applications knowledge
  • Basic social media experience
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail

The intern position is a voluntary role perfect for candidates that want to get into HR but have little to no experience. The ideal candidate however will be passionate, hungry to learn, committed and flexible. In return you will get access to one to one mentoring and career development planning and be furnished with all the knowledge, skills and experience you need to secure your first HR position as a HR Assistant or even HR Officer.
